Self-portraits
My bored feet.
(From top left to bottom right) “Klokkie Kat”, Misiu, Shani and “Ou Kat” join me for a self-portrait series at the Van der Merwe farm near Nelspruit, South Africa.
Seasons of hair: “Symbolic of life, hair bolts from our head[s]. Like the earth, it can be harvested, but it will rise again. We can change its color and texture when the mood strikes us, but in time it will return to its original form…” - Diane Ackerman
A busy person with a busy room in Jasmine Cottage, 71 Hill Street, Grahamstown.
A home-made Christmas present from my boyfriend, Hancu Louw; supposedly based on me?
Quiet nights in with Hank, whiskey and scrabble.
Turning twenty-five in the 80s.
Changes made and changes I would like to make; will we ever be fully comfortable in our skin?
Hand in hand, twirling like we did as children.
Falling: For me, a life lived with no inhibitions, feels a bit like freefalling backwards.
On the stoep of 71 Hill Street, Grahamstown, Eastern Cape.

My lips are fond of red: the enjoy wearing lipstick, they appreciate wine and they have an affinity for love.
Even though the times have changed, my dad and I share a love for the outdoors, road tripping and Coca Cola.
"Duskant die glas": To gain understanding of photography one has to position oneself on the other side of the lens; one has to feel what it is like to be "on the other side of the glass".
While imitating my mom, I cannot help but wonder what life in the 70’s would have been like. I wonder if we would have been best friends back then as well.
